Seasonal Inspiration in my home and my work this month: January 2025
The January blahs can get me down a little bit this time of year. It feels a little dreary and cold after I’ve taken down the warm twinkle lights, put away the color and sparkle of my Christmas decor, and worst of all, I’ve run out of eggnog and Christmas cookies.
Rather than allowing the cold weather and cool-toned January sunlight bring me down, there are a few key tweaks I make to my stagings and my own home this time of year to bring in warmth. Here’s a few tips that make a big impact with minimal effort.
Fresh Florals
There’s no dreary day that an abundance of fresh florals can’t fix. Rather than spend money on fresh flowers, I chose to invest in good-quality faux florals. I massed together multiple generous bouquets of latex tulips in a range of warm tones, with a focus on pink and orange. I added height to lift the eye in the form of white faux lilacs on my dining room buffet. Spring-inspired florals are strategically placed throughout my home, and it brings me a smile every time I walk by.

Warm Whites and Pinky Neutrals
I’ve been leaning into warm whites to elevate the mood and lift the overall color palette in my stagings, and I love to use soft colors traditionally associated with spring. Pink is my favorite color, so you will find me subtly incorporating peach or pinky-neutrals in my stagings this month to bring freshness and warmth.

Color Temperatures
Finally, don’t forget to think about the hue of your light source. For our stagings, we consider many factors such as paint color, available natural lighting, and any color correction the photographer might make in post production when choosing bulb temperature. In my own home, I prefer 2700K in winter months, as the natural light coming through the windows is much cooler and the warm bulb temperature helps balance the color of the light in the room.

I hope some of these tips will help you create a warm, inviting environment in your own home as we transition through the coldest months and into spring. Happy New Year!
